David Lynch Movie Screenings and More Happening in L.A. from January 30 – February 5

Eraserhead movie poster

Mulholland Drive! Lost Highway! Eraserhead! There are a lot of David Lynch screenings happening through greater Los Angeles this week and, as of Wednesday night, a handful of them still have tickets available. I did the digging for you and added the screenings that weren’t sold out to the list.

Elsewhere, there are some worthwhile local shows happening in L.A. Dildox plays Damaged Disco at Gold-Diggers tonight. Big Black Delta is at the same venue on Friday, while Pearl and the Oysters are at Alex’s Bar. On Monday, Total Pleasure kicks off their February residency at Zebulon on Monday night. For DJ-driven events, Saturday night is Boombox’s annual tribute to J Dilla, which is always a big night, and Junior Sanchez heads to Clinic Wednesdays on February 5. But, that’s not all, keep reading for more.

Thursday, January 30

Damaged Disco w/Dildox, Ex-Heir @ Gold-Diggers

Dildox plays often, so, if you go to a lot of shows, chances are you’re already familiar with the local synth-punk duo. If you haven’t seen them yet, go check them out on Thursday night at Gold-Diggers this month’s edition of Damaged Disco. They will make you dance, I’m sure of it. San Francisco’s Ex-Heir opens the show and DJ Dat68 plays the dark dance tunes.

Stuck on VHS: Bedroom Eyes II @ Whammy Analog

I’ve never seen Bedroom Eyes, let alone Bedroom Eyes II, but it doesn’t matter because I appreciate that Whammy is dedicating nights to movies that haven’t had a physical release since the VHS era. Plus, it’s a late 1980s sequel to a mid-‘80s erotic thriller *and* Linda Blair is in it, so I think this is worth the watch.

Total Pleasure, Substance, Placeres, Blood Stained Concrete, DJ Expulsada @ Zebulon

I haven’t seen Total Pleasure live yet, but am into their classic alternative sound— moody but not quite goth, dreamy but not really shoegaze— so I’m going to try my best to make it out to one of their February residency shows at Zebulon. The first of their Monday night gigs is on February 3, with support from Substance, Paceres, Blood Stained Concrete and DJ Expulsada.
