Goodbye Horses: The Many Lives of Q Lazzarus @ Philosophical Research Society
I’ve yet to see the Q Lazzarus documentary, but after reviewing the film’s soundtrack for Bandcamp, I’m really interested in watching it. Diane Luckey, aka Q Lazzarus, met documentary filmmaker Eva Aridjis Fuentes the same way she did Jonathan Demme, through her job as a driver. Where her encounter with Demme led to Q Lazzarus songs appearing in multiple films made by the director, the best known of which is the appearance of “Goodbye Horses” in Silence of the Lambs, her chance meeting with Aridjis resulted in a collaboration on her life story. Sadly, Luckey died before the film was finished, making this a bittersweet tribute to a singer who should have been better known in her lifetime.
