The latest issue of Hi-Fructose is on the stands and I’m really excited to tell you that I have a story in it. I interviewed João Ruas, an amazing artist from Brazil whose work you might recognize from the covers of Fables. I’ve been a fan of Hi-Fructose for a long time and this is my first ever story for the magazine, so please pick up a copy. (I don’t think it’s available online.) I took a peek at the new issue at Meltdown yesterday and it’s gorgeous. I love the layout and artwork accompanying the Ruas interview. Seriously, go get a copy.
But, there’s more.
Monday night, Adventure Time launched a new season. This is one of my favorite shows on the air right now, so I gave readers seven reason why they should watch it in my L.A. Weekly column, Cult Stars.
Thursday’s Cult Stars column focused on the Adult Swim live-action series Eagleheart, which stars Chris Elliott. Last September, I visited the set of the show while they were wrapping up filming for season 2. At the time, everyone seemed to think that the new season, which starts next week, is there best work yet. I saw a few episodes and quickly realized that they are all correct.
This morning, Shannon and I unleashed our latest in the series of profiles we’re doing for Meltdown Comics. We visited talented artist/animator Julia Vickerman, who works on Yo Gabba Gabba! and is curating an epic group art show dedicated to Kristen Stewart. “Muchos KStew” opens at Meltdown on Saturday. Don’t miss it.
