- Otaku-mobile
- More MLP cosplay dolls.
- I can’t recall the name of this artist, but her My Little Pony cosplayer dolls are so cute.
- At the booth for MMORPG Elsword.
- Fate/Zero was a biggie for Aniplex at this year’s AX.
- Regular Show? Hell, yes.
- Tye and Charleett hanging out in West Hall, which was kind of empty compared to previous conventions.
- Tommy Pedrini from the band Cats on Mars, also the person who asked me to judge karaoke.
- This is the stage in the AX karaoke room. I judged the preliminary round of the Friday night contest. There were 41 entries, a record.
- That’s my friend Eddie. He was Homestuck, or Karaokestuck as it were.
- Tiger & Bunny cosplayers
- Hey, it’s Barnaby Brooks, Jr. from Tiger & Bunny!
- I was impressed that there’s already someone cosplaying Princess Merida. I haven’t even seen Brave yet.
- I hung out with Ashphord and Danielle from Chocolate Covered Cosplay at the Madoka Magica panel.
- I’ve never seen a Homestuck gathering this big before. That’s not everyone at the gathering either.
- Doll Delight makes these cool bows. I think they would be fun to wear to Underground.
- The classic.
- This Gundam UC figure was an Anime Expo exclusive.
- Tiger & Bunny Figures
- Panty and Stocking at the Funimation booth.
- Madoka Magica at the Aniplex booth
- I was really into Powerpuff Girls when I was in college and, yes, I know that sounds weird.
- Yaya Han at her Anime Expo booth.
- Drew Newman is an animator for MAD. He also did a cool series of Final Fantasy Football prints.
- These cosplayers told me the photo would make more sense after I watch Sherlock. I’ve been meaning to do that for a while now.
- Tony Stark
- I really need a better filing system for cards. This guy has been turning up at a lot of conventions lately and his work is really cool. I like that he live paints at the cons too.
- I can’t find this artist’s card, but I thought her Vocaloid pin-ups were super cool.
- I think this couple was promoting a game or something. The costumes were pretty cool.
- Adventure Time
- Sugar Clay Cafe had such a nicely decorated booth. I wish I could have fit the whole thing into the shot.
- My friend [tlr] and I loved these gorgeous portraits of J-rock stars from Project Jrfa.
- I missed singer Lisa’s autograph session, but she signed this poster at the Aniplex booth.
- I bought a copy of Polterguys from Laur Uy. Haven’t finished the comic yet, but, so far, I love it. Here she is signing the copy.
- Isn’t this the coolest Totoro you’ve seen? From Ami Amour.
- Kat Rocha and Josh Finney of Titanium Rain, which I suggest reading.
- Crunchyroll dance party on the last day of the con.
- Ejen Chuang, the guy behind Cosplay in America, with his booth neighbor, talented artist Kay.
I spent all of last weekend at Anime Expo. It was a bit odd this year, given that the annual anime convention coincided with X-Games. Overall, it seemed like a really successful weekend.
I wrote two pieces on Anime Expo 2012 for L.A. Weekly. Check out the stories below when you have a chance. There was more that I wanted to write, but I have to get ready for Comic-Con now.
